Laos, China to partner in water resources management

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and a Chinese company have inked an agreement on partnership in water resources management in Laos. The Minutes of Discussion were signed in Vientiane on May 11 between Director General of Water Resources Management Mr Chanthanet Boualapha and President of China SPT Limited Mr Yongxu Zheng. The agreement will help Laos in its efforts to become an environmentally friendly and greener country. It is seeking to provide sustainable livelihoods and lay down effective natural resources and environmental management measures. It is hoped these will build resilience and adaptive capacity that lessen the vulnerability of communities and the economy to the stresses of global climate change and its impacts. The process of building a greener economy can create substantial job opportunities and spur inclusive economic growth, according to the agreement.
